It can be difficult to stay calm with everything going on in the world right now, and it is especially important right now to find ways to take care of your well-being. While we can’t do some of the things we enjoy right now, there are lots of great activities that you can do at home. Here are some hobbies you can do at home to help you de-stress and find joy during this time:
If you’re finding yourself feeling a lot of stress, journaling is a great way to get your thoughts out. Oftentimes, our racing thoughts make it difficult to calm down. Journaling is a great way to express ourselves and put our thoughts on paper.
Knitting is a great way to relieve stress and just requires some sticks and yarn. It’s fairly easy to pick up the basics, and there’s many great tutorials online.
Get some stretching and light exercise in with yoga. Yoga is a great option to do at home for when you need to get up from the couch or your chair. It can make you feel much more relaxed, and there’s many videos on YouTube that are friendly for beginners.
Reading is also a quiet activity that can help you relax. Try to avoid reading the news or social media, and read a book that’s enjoyable. If you don’t have books, there’s many free ebooks you can access online.
You certainly don’t have to be Picasso to enjoy drawing. Whether it’s doodling or sketching, or creating realistic portraits, drawing is a great way to get creative and relieve stress. You can also branch out into painting or calligraphy as well.
6) Playing musical instruments or singing
As a musician myself, I turn to music every time I feel stressed. Something about it just makes me forget my worries. Considering picking up an instrument for the first time, or just playing music again if you haven’t played for awhile. It can be fun and stress relieving to jam out and sing to your favorite songs.
Building and creating things can be a stress reliever as well. If you have some tools and random scrap wood, try building something. Or do a simple DIY project in your house. Pinterest is a great place to go for ideas and inspiration.
8) Makeup, Nails or At Home Spa Treatment
I know that you’re probably not going out right now, but it can be fun to make yourself feel good by doing your makeup or trying out new looks. It can also be a nice time to throw on a face mask or take a nice warm bath to de-stress.
Coloring is another fun relaxing hobby that you can enjoy at home. Simply search for adult coloring pages and you can find lots of free ones to print out.
